Get a decent phone

By rawprawn

I finally ditched my Sony phone, which over the l two years has spent over 3 months in repairs, for a Nokia E61 (http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/0,,85381,00.html). I have been deciding between something small or go for a PDA style. What finally swung the vote was SIP support within the E61 as well as integrated WLAN, which is pretty cool. Saying that I haven’t actually managed to get the SIP working. Of course its just a matter of time, for the penalty for being stuck with “a brick” without being able to show due cause is beyond mention.

Read on for some cool features. You can control PowerPoint presentations, have the slides displayed on your phone and navigate from slide to slide using Bluetooth 1.2, which has max range of 100m!

Has support for VPN, RSS feeds, Blackberry connect (which I’m not actually sure what that is) and heaps of other stuff typicalof a PDA. Battery life is excellent, a pleasant change from the Sony, and the screen has great graphics.

Other than not being able to get SIP working there have been a few minor irritations. Like the phone searches for WLANs in the area, yet always trys to connect to the default network (Home). Would be nice to autoswitch between networks. Avantgo wont work on it, which is a tad sad, and the selection of software is somewhat limited.

All in all, not bad for a brick.

Man, that thing IS a brick! I have a machine that can do all that too – it’s called a laptop!

Where are you guys? In the tube, on the way to a soccer match in Britain? NO…Ireland, in a couple a pubs, planning a night out! Whats with the bricks? Wait a minute. Here’s a clue – “…for the penalty for being stuck with “a brick” without being able to show due cause is beyond mention.” Could they be underground Paddys?
PDA, VPN, RSS feeds, Obviously some kinda code…lets see if I can decipher…the fone is a gun, gotta be. “…something small or go for a PDA style..”(Personal Deadly Assault?) “SIP support”, hmmm (Silencer, Interlocking Portable) “with E61″ (must be caliber) “as well as WLAN” (Weapon on Lease from Austrian Navy?) “And a bluetooth 1.2 (another caliber? with a bad kickback?) which has a max range of 100m! (has to be a special undercover weapon for close encounters!)
I’ll have to keep workin on this…VPN,(Very Potent Nick?) RSS feeds (Revolver Super Spot-on?)……
